Hon. Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, representing the CPA Asia Region, addressing the General Debate of the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC), called for stronger parliamentary action to uphold democracy, international law and peace through dialogue and parliamentary diplomacy.

Highlighting South Africa’s democratic journey, the NA Speaker reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to dialogue, peaceful resolution of disputes, respect for sovereignty, the UN Charter and a rules-based international order. He stressed the importance of greater parliamentary cooperation to address conflicts, climate change, food insecurity, cyber threats and challenges to democratic institutions.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also underscored the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s role in parliamentary diplomacy, capacity-building, exchange of best practices and strengthening parliamentary institutions.
